Motivational speaking and Executive Coaching
by: Bill Burridge

Hi

You've used an interesting word... "allow"!

Neither of the two activities you have mentioned are in any way regulated so anyone can 'do' them but the question is how well.

Motivational speaking does require a great deal of self confidence and to do it well you will need to know special techniques. Whereas training to become a life coach would undoubtedly improve your self confidence substantially it would not impart specific motivational speaking techniques. For this you would need to attend motivational speaking training or sign up for Toastmasters or something similar.

Executive coaching differs from life coaching in that it is normally coaching to improve performance in the business context. A general understanding of business life and dynamics is therefore important to do well in this field. Life coaching is all about helping people to realize their potential - in one or more areas of their lives - but is specific to the individual, not the business they are running.

Having said the above most business executives would improve business performance simply by leading more balanced and less stressful personal lives - and life coaching is ideal for helping to achieve that.
