Coaching for Kids

Hi Guys

Thanks for the Insights Newsletter. I enjoy reading the views expressed. I was particularly interested in the 'Coaching for kids' article. I strongly believe that a lot of energy needs to be spent on children. I am a school teacher and very often I have found that education is not adequately preparing children for life.

People involved in education are searching for answers and solutions. New Insights Africa and its coaches can play an important role in providing those answers.

I started a program called 'Edu Care 4 Life' which focuses on the development of character. "The End of Education is Character" - Sai Baba - These words have inspired me to create this program.

The word Educare means to bring out what is inside. All philosophers have said the same thing: "True Education lies within each of us and each one of us has incredible potential".

One of the mistakes we make is we try to 'teach'. Our only task is to inspire others to realise who they really are. I believe we are all beings of infinite potential. Following these principles has made such a difference to my life and the children I work with. My purpose in life is to share this information and experience with others.

The Edu Care 4 Life course is based on the 5 basic human values (Truth, Love, Peace, Right Action and Non-Violence). All activities are experiential. Our aim in the course is not to teach, but to inspire. Our team is made up of 5 facilitators that undergo an intense training program. One of the most important aspects of the training is that the facilitators must first practise and experience before telling others. Some of the activities are:
- Power of the Mind
- Study Techniques
- Teambuilding
- Exercise and Nutrition
- Drama
- Leadership and much more.

Thus far 35 learners have completed the course and the response from the children and parents is amazing. I have also been involved in the last year in doing motivational talks to school staff and parents. In such a short period of time we are noticing real changes.

This is proof that Life Coaching is for both young and old.

One of the reasons I am doing the Life Coaching Course with New Insights is so that I can become a better instrument and improve myself. I have a lot to learn from you and your team and I must add that I had an intuitive feeling that the Life Coach course was something I needed to do, even before reading up on the course. I look forward to sharing more information and experiences.
