Mohammed Motara

My Background
Since I can remember I have always been conditioned to strive for success. Always wanting to please my parents and teachers, I worked conscientiously through primary and high school, always topping the class academically and taking on numerous leadership roles. But amongst all the achievements; the medals and trophies; the success and approval; lay a deep need to gain a better understanding of my existence......Surely there was more to life than all these external accomplishments?
Wake-up Call
It seemed natural for me to go to university after high school and my teachers and parents agreed that because of my strong academic achievements I should pursue a career in dentistry. There I was in my first year, miserable and unhappy in a career that I knew deep down was not meant to be. I was not in control of my life – I had placed my power in the hands of those around me, and now I was slowly dying inside. However, what seemed to be a terrible episode in my life turned out to be the greatest blessing in disguise! At the age of 18 I picked up a book called “The Seat of the Soul” by Gary Zukav and so began my journey of self-discovery. For the first time I knew that I had to follow my inner voice and after completing my first year, I made the courageous decision to switch to a BA in Communications, majoring in Psychology.
Something still missing...
Although I was a lot happier in my new career path I still felt that something was missing. Nonetheless, I continued to focus on achievement and attained good grades, including several distinctions, and was elected as a Golden Key student for 2 consecutive years for being top of my class. During this time I was still trying to understand the meaning of life and I began to immerse myself in literature regarding spirituality and self-discovery. I also traveled extensively which proved to be an excellent learning tool. After spending 3 months in the UK and Europe I was exposed to a multitude of cultures which gave me a much better understanding of myself and the universal human dynamics we all share, despite our differences.
Clarity at last!
“This won’t work as well as the way it once did ‘coz I want to decide between survival and bliss!”A line from a song that always resonated strongly with me. I did not want to merely survive this life, like so many others I knew. I wanted to discover the meaning of bliss and I was willing to spend my whole life finding it. I began to understand that what I was looking for was not “out there” or external to me but intrinsic / within me. I realized that we become conditioned from a young age to fit different roles, achieve success (each person’s definition of success being different) and gain external power because we think that these things will make us happy. My own experience taught me that much of it is just an illusion and true authentic power lies within. We are all born with an innate perfection. That perfection never goes away – we just get side-tracked and lose sight of our inner greatness. The most important journey we will ever take, is the journey of self-discovery - a journey to authentic empowerment.
To New Insights and beyond!
Deep down, I always knew that I wanted to serve. I wanted to help others be the best that they can be. Nothing brings me greater joy. At last I discovered this amazing thing called “Life Coaching” and this fantastic company called “New Insights Africa.” For the first time I found something that allowed me to use all my natural strengths and still find inner fulfillment. After thoroughly enjoying the content of the course I completed the program with High Distinction in 2008. I am currently furthering my expertise in career coaching, Uniqueness and strength training, and facilitation.
So what can I offer you?
"We cannot teach people anything; We can only help them discover it within themselves.”- Galileo Galilei -
I have always believed that every person already knows where they need to be; they merely get side-tracked by the modern world we live in. My job is to merely bring them back to their own path. With Life Coaching, I am able to equip my clients with the necessary tools to make their goals achievable, overcome their fears and live their best life. Just like I have my story, each person has their own, and despite the different paths we walk, the common human thread we share is unveiled in coaching. Once a client is equipped with the necessary tools to be self-empowered, they have better control and can make better choices in their lives. Simply put: “When you know better you do better!“
My coaching format
Being someone who enjoys fun and creativity, I like to take the complexity of life and make it fun and simple to understand. I have therefore customized all my sessions with audio and visual effects in order to make the coaching process fun and interesting. I also coach in a comfortable and relaxed environment to get you into the “coaching mood”. I have created various “coaching packages” that are customized for each client’s individual needs ranging from individual Goal Setting to finding one’s own unique strengths and life purpose. I also have designed packages for couples. I offer the first session as a free “assessment session” so that I can customize the rest of the program in a way that is best suited to your needs. I prefer coaching clients on a one-on-one basis so that they can gain maximum benefit from the coaching experience. However I also coach via telephone and Skype.
Who do I work best with?
I work with anyone who is willing to give 100% dedication to the program. I work particularly well with:- People who are trying to find balance and structure in their life.
- Young people who are trying to find their path and Life Purpose.
- People who have an interest in personal growth and self-discovery.
- People who feel stuck and overwhelmed with fear.
- People who want to challenge themselves and reach their true potential.
- People who want to feel authentically empowered.
- People who want to improve their Self-Confidence.
- Couples who want to strengthen their relationship or gain better understanding of each other.
- Companies who want to gain maximum potential from their employees.
- People who are ready and willing to change.

In conclusion
In my experience I have found that people have three main fears when it comes to taking on Life Coaching:1) They associate it with therapy and therefore think that they must be crazy or have something wrong with them in order to be coached. This comes from a misconception about what coaching really is. In fact, as coaches, we only work with people who have a healthy state of mind but like anyone living in today’s modern world may just need to be steered back onto course. 2) People fear change. They would rather deprive themselves from living their best lives and remain in their comfort zone. This is owing to the fact that people would do more to avoid pain than to gain pleasure. Much of this fear is self-inflicted and when it is addressed during the coaching process, it is amazing to see the transformation that takes place within the client. 3) Finally, people do not value themselves enough to invest in their personal well being. They would be prepared to spend a lot of money on external things or on others, but somehow they neglect their “inner” well being. Most of my clients have realized that everything in their outer world stems from a truly empowered inner world. Much of the success that many of my clients have achieved has resulted from a better understanding of themselves. They realize that they are their own greatest asset, and are worth every cent. I have been privileged to work with amazing people form many different walks of life and I have always given 100% to every one of them and will continue to do so for my future clients. I am passionate about what I do and nothing makes me happier than to see the positive change in others. I would be honored to work with you… “The power to change your life is in your hands!”
