Why is your Programme a Home Study Course?
It is our mission to train and develop a network of successful and effective life coaches that will be a force for good in South and southern Africa – and we have chosen as our target market people who either do not have, or do not want to apply, the time or resources required to attend face-to-face workshops and seminars away from home.
A major advantage that home study courses offer over attendance at workshops and seminars is the ability for trainees to learn at their own speed and at their own convenience.
No matter whether you learn slowly or quickly you are able to learn at the speed YOU learn at. You can stop and focus on specific issues, as you need to. You can also review parts of the course, or the entire course, at any time. You can decide when it makes sense to get your head down and study – and when it makes sense to give other areas of your life priority. There are no enforced timelines.
With our home study programme, you get all the material that you require in written and electronic format. You don’t have to fret about missing a class or not understanding something your instructor says. You can review the material and watch the DVDs over and over again as and when it suits you.
The New Insights Life Coach Training Programme was modelled on the same learning structure that Cambridge University uses for its distance learning modules so you can be assured of the highest quality of training currently available.
What will your programme teach me?
The New Insights Life Coach Training Programme aims to equip you to become a fully fledged life coach by imparting the skills, tips, techniques and support that you will need to practise effectively in South Africa, or anywhere else in the world for that matter. In equipping you to become a great life coach, the programme will also teach you life skills that will help to transform your life.
Not only that...
Our programme offers a wealth of information and advice on how to run a successful business. After all, you can be the best coach in the world but if you have no clue about how to put together a business plan, market your practice, attract clients and sell your services, then your coaching skills will be wasted on the world!
We want you to SUCCEED - to be a successful coach running a successful, profitable business in life coaching.
Life Coaching is not counselling and it's not a form of therapy. These disciplines are the domain of professional counsellors and therapists. We teach you how to determine when and how someone should be referred to a psychologist or other appropriate professional.

What support will I receive if I buy the Programme?
Support while you train – and when you start your new coaching business – is, admittedly, vital. That’s why we give you lifetime e-mail and phone support as well as access to the online Life Coach Forum on our website.
This means that you can contact the New Insights team any time you want as often as you want with as many questions as you want for as long as you’re a New Insights trainee or certified Life Coach. You’ll also get access to our database of trainees and certified coaches for networking purposes – so you’ll never have to feel alone.
One of the support tools we offer as part of the programme is a free session with one of our New Insights certified life coaches. If you choose, you can go the extra mile and hire a coach to mentor you through the entire programme and give you some of the coaching tips and ideas that they’ve used to create a fantastic Life Coaching practice for themselves.
Bottom line - we want you to succeed.
What hidden charges are there when I sign up for the course?
None whatsoever.
The price we advertise and the price you pay covers everything you need to become a New Insights certified coach ready to run your own successful coaching practice. We do not levy any further mandatory fees or charges, though we may from time to time market additional non-obligatory products or services.
Can I pay the programme cost off in installments?
Unfortunately not. It is a policy of New Insights Africa not to offer credit terms for the programme.
We believe it is of utmost importance to offer our customers (trainees and coaches) great customer service and we don't want anything to dilute this focus. By choosing to offer payment terms a substantial part of our time and energy would need to be channelled into the management of credit.
We have chosen rather to allow our customers to make their own funding arrangements for the programme. Of course, if payment is made by credit card (MasterCard or Visa) it may be possible to use the budget facility provided by the credit card company and the card issuing bank, that allows payment over 3, 6, 12, 24 or 36 months.
How can I be sure that I'll get good value for my money?
Our mission at New Insights Africa is to become a commercially successful force for good through the empowerment and development of others. We do not believe in ‘get rich quick’ schemes. However, we do believe in creating ongoing, mutually rewarding relationships with our trainees and coaches. We simply couldn’t do this if we were not offering fair exchange.
We recognise that your decision to purchase involves a substantial investment. But we would ask you to consider this in the context of what you are buying. The New Insights Life Coach Training Programme offers you the prospect of starting a fulfilling, exciting and very rewarding new career. At the very least it represents a powerful self-development opportunity. Ask yourself: “Can I spend the equivalent amount of money elsewhere to bring about a transformation in my life and provide a great new income earning opportunity?”
When you order the New Insights Life Coach Training Programme, you do so with the assurance that, if for any reason whatsoever, you decide that the programme is not for you, you can return it at any time up to 30 days after placing your order - and you will receive a full refund of the programme costs if you return the course to us in good order (we retain a very small amount to cover the original packaging and courier delivery cost).
We hope you’ll agree that this is fair exchange.
Will I receive all the material at once or will you send it in parts?
We send you everything right up front.
There’s a great reason for this. When you embark on a new and exciting adventure like becoming a Life Coach, you’ll want to be able to assess the programme holistically so you know what you’ve taken on. In the beginning, you’ll probably want to read a little from the business manuals, a little from the marketing manual and a little from the coaching programme as you begin to understand more and more about how best to become a masterful Life Coach.
This is a normal part of the learning process and studies have shown that humans learn best in an environment of fun and flexibility rather than one with rigid rules and regulations. We send you the entire programme up front so you can study in the way that suits you best. As the various parts of the course are interlinked with references throughout to past and future sections of the course notes, we believe this makes most sense.
Who accredits this kind of training and do you carry such accreditation?
There is no one authority governing life coaching or life coach training either here in South Africa or worldwide, though there are a number of self-regulatory bodies that represent the industry in the US, Europe and elsewhere.
New Insights Africa has chosen to work within whatever frameworks and guidelines may become established in South Africa in due course. To promote that we are registered as coach training institution members of the Coaches and Mentors Association of South Africa (COMENSA) and we are one of the proud founder members of the Coach Education and Training Association of South Africa (CETASA).
We believe the New Insights certification requirements are sufficiently stringent to ensure that those who choose to train with us are equipped to life coach anywhere in the world – and indeed there are many New Insights trained coaches in all parts of the world.
How long does it take to become a life coach?
This is one of those “how long is a piece of string” type questions.
It really all depends on you and the amount of passion, effort and time you put into learning the material and practising what you’ve learnt.
As a rough guide, however, you can expect to complete the theory part of the course within around three months assuming you already have a job or you’re a busy mother and you can find around 45 minutes a day to study the material and DVDs.
Then time is required for putting your learnings into practice with friends, family and colleagues, perhaps with the support of your own personal coach if you feel you need it. We recommend that you allow a further 3-6 months for this.
There’s no reason why you shouldn’t have your first paying clients within nine months of receiving the New Insights programme but this is only a guide. We’ve had people complete the theory in three weeks by taking time off work and studying for eight hours a day. To be honest, this is definitely not a strategy we recommend, as there is a lot to learn to be a masterful coach and, ideally, you should build in plenty of time for reflection and review as you go through the programme.
At the end of the day there is no right or wrong, we’ll be there for you whether you’re a tortoise or a hare!
What does the New Insights certification process involve?
When Neil Asher studied Psychology at University he could never understand the importance of writing 10,000 word essays and how this would actually help him help another person achieve their dreams…
In fact, he still doesn’t.
So when Neil created New Insights he sat down with two professors of education and picked their brains for a day on everything that made a learning experience both fun and productive for the learners.
As a result the New Insights certification process focuses less on a student’s ability to memorise facts and figures, and write an essay, and more on their ability to put their learnings into practice in actually helping others. We feel sure you’ll agree this is a much better indicator of success.
So there are no essays to write.
The way we will assess you has three components.
Firstly, there's the theory.
At the end of each of the seven skills training manuals there is a self-test. The tests have been modelled on the same distance learning programs that Cambridge University uses and are designed as ‘open book’ tests to ensure you’ve integrated the material you have been learning. When you’ve completed a manual and feel comfortable that you understand and can apply the learnings, you’ll complete and fax back the self-test test to New Insights Africa. We’ll arrange to review it and then let you know how you’ve done. If necessary, we’ll give you a call to offer you any support or guidance we feel might be of help or encouragement.
Secondly, there is the practical side.
For this you’ll need to complete fifteen one-off practice sessions with fifteen different practice ‘clients’ who will complete feedback forms and send them back to New Insights Africa. You can practise on friends, family or colleagues - whatever works best for you. And if you have trouble finding enough people you can approach us for prospects.
You will also need to complete the full thirteen-session New Insights coaching programme with one of your practice clients (not a family member or close relative) and submit feedback forms for each session and the overall experience.
At anytime after you've completed the fifteen one off practice sessions, you can apply to write the final test, or exam. Again, this is ‘open book’. It is aimed at aiding you to integrate the programme material fully at a deep level, helping you on your journey to becoming the best Life Coach possible.
Once you’ve successfully completed all these requirements and signed a declaration agreeing to abide by our coaching code of ethics (drawn from guidelines put out by COMENSA) you’re ready to make a positive impact in the world as a New Insights certified Life Coach!
What will I receive to acknowledge my certification?
We provide you with a good-looking Certificate of Completion that lists your accomplishments and which you can mount on your desk or office wall.
Once certified you will qualify to use the words ‘New Insights Certified Life Coach’ on all your marketing materials, business stationery etc.
Will I be tied to New Insights after I gain certification?
No. You will set up a fully independent practice of your own with no liabilities or obligations to New Insights other than to respect the copyright on our material and not to change or adapt our coaching programme without clearly indicating, to your clients, where you have deviated from it.
On the other hand, we take pleasure in keeping in contact with our certified coaches, and partnering with those who are interested in a number of areas. For example, we may promote coaches on our website in exchange for advertising on theirs. We also have a generous referral fee for new customers that coaches direct to us.
Simply put, we’re always looking for ways to work with our coaches that offer win-win opportunities for both of us. Your success is our success and vice versa.
How do I start a Life Coaching practice?
Simple. Complete the training and implement the action steps in the marketing and business manuals you’ll receive. Start small and keep your overheads to a minimum while you find your feet. Once you’re up and running you can market yourself in a myriad of different ways, all covered in the course with step by step instructions.
You have the comfort of knowing that we’ll be there to support you. Our reputation is on the line as a Life Coach Training Company so we’ll do everything we can to help you be successful.
What can I earn as a Life Coach?
That really depends on you and what you want to get out of it.
Some coaches prefer to work part-time to supplement their existing income. They choose to coach just a couple of people a week and make an extra few thousand Rands a month.
Other coaches see this as a full time opportunity and really put everything into their coaching business with the result that they earn hundreds of thousands of Rands a year.
Coaching fees vary depending on the coach’s experience and their chosen target market. Most Life Coaches charge between R350 and R1,500 per session. A “full” coaching practice will include 20-35 clients per week. So assuming you charge R400 a session (coaching private individuals) and maintain 20 clients a week, you’ll gross around R35,000 a month.
To be honest, it’s up to you to make it happen, but we think you can see that the sky is as high as you want it to be.
Is there sufficient demand for Life Coaching?
In one word, YES!
More than ever before, people are looking for ways to gain personal fulfillment and happiness in their lives. No longer are people prepared to put up with stressful, meaningless or mundane lives just because ‘that’s the way life is’ or because ‘that’s the hand they were dealt’. There is a revolution happening with more and more people starting to question their purpose in life.
That’s where Life Coaching comes in – by helping clients to understand their purpose and to overcome obstacles to greater joy and happiness. Our New Insights Africa logo incorporates the words ‘Freedom’ Confidence’ and ‘Growth’ because that’s what Life Coaching can deliver!
The time is right for Life Coaching in our country.
Can I be sure of getting clients when I start practising?
We’re the ONLY professional Life Coach Training Company that believes in our course so much, that we offer all our trainees a 100% guarantee.
It’s very straightforward: Simply complete your training and fulfill all the requirements for New Insights certification, following all the guidelines we provide. Ask us for - and act on - any help or advice you may need along the way. Follow and apply our coaching and business support systems… and you will get at least ten coaching clients within twelve months of completing our course. If not, then we will cheerfully refund your investment in the programme… every last cent of it!
Now, we can’t be fairer than that. So, one way or the other that means that you’re guaranteed to get your money back within the first twelve months - providing you put the effort in and do the work required.
By the way, in our experience, our trainees don’t normally need any assistance finding clients when they become certified because they are brimming with confidence and referrals from their practice clients! However, if you do, we’re always there to help. Simply email us and we’ll do our best to provide you with up to fifty leads in your area drawn from our extensive database of people interested in life coaching. (We are constantly on the look out for fun and friendly people who’d love to join us in our mission to make a positive impact on the world!)
But I don't live in one of the major cities. Surely this puts me at a disadvantage?
No, not necessarily.
Are you familiar with the concept of Telephone Coaching? Nowadays, with technologies like Voice-Over-Internet-Protocol or VOIP (basically the ability to make telephone calls over the internet) the idea of coaching by 'phone has taken off because it is so convenient and inexpensive between two people who have this technology. (Ever heard of 'Skype'?)
And don't think for one moment that telephone coaching can't be as effective as face-to-face coaching. My personal coach is based in the UK and we have regular sessions over Skype that are just fabulous. In fact, clients I know who have been coached by 'phone actually love the fact that they can be coached from home without any embarrassment about their looks, body language or handwriting!
So, as a life coach, the world really is your oyster! ☺
