People  with  a  Passion  for  People

SO YOU WANT TO BECOME A counsellOR?

smiling, happy people

Keen to become a counsellor?

Are passionate about people, human motivation and working with other people to help improve their lives?

Read on because what we have to offer may well interest you!

We don't offer training to become a counsellor ... BUT we do offer internationally accredited training to become a Certified Life Coach!

We think you'll find that's a truly exciting alternative.

What's the difference, you may ask?

And that's a great question.

Both counselling and life coaching involve working closely with people to improve their situations, so in that sense they are similar disciplines ...

... But that's largely where the similarity ends.

Here is a brief summary of the major differences you should be aware of:

BECOME A COUNSELLOR ... OR A LIFE COACH? HERE'S A COMPARISON

THE
COUNSELLOR

counselling

A Counsellor commonly refers to the people they help as 'patients'.

A Counsellor helps patients deal with issues affecting their mental health or mental well-being.

A Counsellor helps patients resolve issues, problems or traumas related to their past.

A Counsellor offers advice, support and therapy or therapeutic processes to resolve or lessen the trauma

A Counsellor encourages patients to vent, discuss, and hopefully release, deeply held emotions and feelings.

A Counsellor's ultimate goal is to help a patient bring closure to a past trauma, addiction, or issue that is affecting them and their ability to lead a 'normal' life.

THE
LIFE COACH

life coaching

A Life Coach commonly refers to the people they help as 'clients'.

A Life Coach helps mentally well clients to accomplish more of what they want from life.

A Life Coach helps clients to build brighter, better futures by grounding them in the present.

A Life Coach helps clients to access their own inner power using various empowering tools and techniques.

A Life Coach encourages clients to share their dreams and construct meaningful goals and action plans to achieve them.

A Life Coach's ultimate goal is to help a client find his or her life purpose and live in a way that is fully aligned with that purpose. This leads to a happier, more meaningful life

LET'S SUMMARISE

Similar but different chess pieces

Whether you choose to become a Counsellor or a Life Coach, you'll work closely with people, helping them to improve their lives.

But there are big differences in scope, approach and the intended outcomes.

Hopefully you will be starting to appreciate that ...

When you become a Counsellor your role will largely be focused on helping your patients deal with, or come to terms with, serious problems from the past that have  resulted in mental blocks that prevent them from living normal, constructive lives.

Given the nature of the interactions, Counselling is challenging, and can often be mentally fatiguing and even emotionally distressing for the practitioner.

When you become a Life Coach, your role will largely be focused on  helping your clients transform their  lives to become more meaningful, purposeful and fulfilling.

This is done, not by focusing on resolving problems, but by helping clients identify their purpose, remove self-imposed limitations and harness their inner power,

Life Coaching, though challenging, is generally inspiring, uplifting and fulfilling for the practitioner.
