If you've enrolled with New Insights and chosen the PRO certification track there's some information you should know about how your mentor coach is appointed and the rules of engagement with him or her.

You also need to understand how the Competency Assessment process works

VIP coaches: what you need to know

New Insights VIP (Valued Independent Partner) coaches are quite a rare breed. They are all experienced, New Insights trained and certified coaches that are well versed in our Coaching System and processes.

The appointment of VIP coaches is exclusively by invitation, based on their passion and commitment. They then complete specialist advanced level training.

We trust them to provide quality coaching and mentoring services with care and attention.

It's important to know that these coaches are not employed by New Insights. They are independent operators who contract their coaching services to New Insights under mutually agreed terms.

appointing your VIP mentor coach

As we cannot guarantee the availability of any one coach at any specific time, we cannot guarantee you that we will appoint the coach of your choice.

The ultimate decision on which coach to appoint therefore lies with us. That said, we will do our best to accommodate your preferences.

With this in mind, please visit the list of active VIP Mentor Coaches by clicking here.

Choose your top three preferences and email these to Bill with 'My preferred mentor coaches' in the subject line.

Bill will check availability and revert. If none of your preferences are available at the time, he will suggest alternatives.

A mentor coach will be provisionally appointed and an introductory email will be sent to you and the coach concerned.

You will need to contact the coach to arrange time for a brief 'get to know you' discussion aimed at:

  • ensuring you are a good fit for each other;  and
  • deciding a starting date for your coaching/mentoring engagement.

rules of engagement with your mentor coach

THE WINDOW FOR COACHING SERVICES

In order to assist our mentor coaches with planning their commitments we restrict the mentoring services offered as part of the CLASSIC PLUS Track to a 12 month window during your maximum 24 month certification period.

You must commence coaching and mentoring services (i.e. the agreed starting date) at any time before the 6 month anniversary of your registration/enrolment date as detailed on your invoice.

You must then complete the coaching/mentoring engagement within a further 12 months of the starting date agreed with your coach.

COACH'S OBLIGATION

Your mentor coach is contracted to provide you with coaching and mentoring services that may involve up to a maximum of 20 hours of their time.

the objective of mentor coaching

The primary aim of the mentoring is to help you build confidence and competence with your practice coaching, and your effectiveness in applying the various concepts, tools and techniques you have learnt from the skills training theory.

NATURE of mentor coaching

You will work with your coach to agree the blend of coaching and mentoring that will be most effective for you.

It is anticipated that most of the time will be used to help familiarise you with the New Insights Life Coaching System. You will gain a lot from getting to experience what it is liked to be coached while, at the same time being offered tips and advice to enhance your own coaching ability.

We strongly advocate setting aside enough time during the period of your engagement for the following:

  • A 'coach-the-coach' session to test your basic coaching ability.
  • A session in which your coach will test your ability to explain, succinctly and accurately, the topic of each of the sessions included in the System.

KEEPING AHEAD WITH THE THEORY

The coaching and mentoring services can only be effective if you have already studied the skills training material that will be covered in the coaching and mentoring sessions.

To this end we strongly recommend that you complete at least the first two skills training modules before starting the engagement with your coach. Your theory study plan should ensure that you keep ahead of the practical work to be covered in the sessions you plan with your coach.

THE COACHING MEDIUM

The Coaching and Mentoring services will be provided remotely via Zoom, Skype or similar free VOIP services, and will require you to have a suitably reliable broadband Internet connection.

ADDITIONAL CHARGES

The Programme fee you have paid covers the services described above.

Should you and your coach agree to any alternative arrangements (such as meeting face-to-face at a neutral venue for example) then your coach will be entitled to charge any additional costs that he or she may incur in carrying out such arrangement (e.g. travel costs).

Any such costs must be agreed separately between you and your coach and will be payable by you directly to your coach.

GENERAL

It is important that you respect your coach's professional time (you would no doubt expect the same from your clients one day).

Please give your coach at least 24 hours notice if you need to reschedule a pre-agreed session. As you will come to appreciate in your practice coaching, preparing for a session only to be let down with minimal notice, is a real inconvenience!

GETTING YOUR CLIENT'S CONSENT

Before you make a recording of a coaching session or sessions it is essential that you get the consent of your practice client. We have prepared an online consent form for this purpose. You will need to send your practice client the following link and password:

If you choose to coach remotely via Telephone/Skype/Zoom etc. then you may submit an audio recording.

In either case both your and your client's voices must be clearly audible.

For this and more detail regarding recording format, where and how to submit the recording, how you will be assessed, etc. please download the Competency Assessment Guideline and the Competency Assessment Report template (in Adobe pdf format) from our Dropbox by clicking here.
